It’s been a long long time since this much action filled the Washington Park band shell in one summer. With Beartrap going off without any undue chaos it seems the band shell has been open to more than just symphony/orchestra events in 2024. Very exciting for the youthful and musically expressive folks in our community.

This past weekend it all came together with some of our favorite local Casper bands and a great infusion of young energy for ‘Sounds Like September Fest’ a great mix of bands and artists to entertain the folks looking to find home in their community.

The show was opened up with youth! ‘Comatose Garden’ and ‘Golden Sands’ showcasing a growing energy in the music scene around here. Something we couldn’t be more excited to see, a new generation learning and growing the confidence to express themselves in an appreciable manner. The kids are alright, the town is in good hands if these folks keep it up!

The day continued with ‘Fight Flight or Funk’, a continually evolving funk-jam band that’s been coalescing into one of the most fun forces in Wyoming’s musical landscape, these folks, with no doubt, are on a mission for fun.

Bringing Punk Rock back to the band shell was a momentous occasion and ‘THE SHIVERZ’ never disappoint. No riots, but a bit of chaos for our family park on a Saturday was a warm welcome.

The youth invasion was fully upon us after that as ‘Purple Heat’ brought passion and a joy for creation to the stage that’s only possible through the energy being under 25 brings.

One of the biggest surprises and I guess I gotta sadly admit to the surprise because the kids know.. but ‘FAUNA’! Those dudes jam! Energy, cohesion, brotherhood. RAD to see, don’t stop till you’re famous dudes!

Finished off by the band maybe showing everyone how it’s done right now ‘So-Called’. Local favorites even if I don’t particularly enjoy the Pop-Punk or the wild strobe lights. The energy is inescapable.

Keep an eye on all of the energy that Sounds Like September Fest brought. There was a ton of talent on stage and spread throughout the park. Here’s to a great day in Caspertown.
